Mega Millions Jackpot Climbs to $70 Million After No Winner on July 4 Drawing
The Mega Millions jackpot will roll over once again after no ticket matched all six numbers in Friday night’s (July 4) $60 million drawing.
With no grand prize winner, the jackpot now rises to an estimated $70 million — or $31.3 million in cash — for the next drawing on Tuesday, July 8.

This rollover marks the latest in a series of recent drawings where no player has hit the jackpot. The last time the Mega Millions grand prize was claimed was on April 18, when a ticket sold in Ohio matched all six numbers to win an estimated $112 million. Prior to that, a ticket in Illinois won $344 million on March 25.
Notably, a player in New Jersey won $1.13 billion on March 26, the fifth-largest prize in Mega Millions history and the eighth-largest in U.S. lottery history.
In January 2023, the jackpot reset four times in one month, including a massive $1.35 billion win in Maine on January 14 — the second-highest in the game’s history.
Mega Millions increased ticket prices from $2 to $5 before the April 8 drawing. With the change, the odds of hitting the jackpot improved from 1 in 302.6 million to 1 in 290 million, while the chance of winning any prize increased to 1 in 23 from the previous 1 in 24.
Officials also confirmed that starting jackpots will now begin at $50 million, up from the prior $20 million, and the minimum non-jackpot prize will double from $10 to $20.
“People really want big jackpots,” said Joshua Johnston, Washington state’s lottery director, in comments to the New York Post. “We expect to see a sales lift on this.”
Mega Millions has only raised its ticket price once before, since launching in 2002.
