Messi Nets Brace as Inter Miami Crush New York Red Bulls 5-1

Messi Shines with Two Goals as Inter Miami Bounce Back to Rout Red Bulls 5-1

Lionel Messi returned to top form on Saturday, scoring twice as Inter Miami cruised to a 5-1 win over the New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer, rebounding impressively from a midweek loss to FC Cincinnati.

After a 3-0 defeat on Wednesday, Miami fell behind early at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, when Alexander Hack opened the scoring for the Red Bulls in the 14th minute. But Messi quickly turned the tide. The Argentine legend set up Jordi Alba—his former Barcelona teammate—for the equalizer in the 24th minute. Just three minutes later, Messi linked up with Alba again, whose cross was tapped in by Telasco Segovia to put Miami in front.

Segovia struck again in first-half stoppage time, sending Miami into the break with a 3-1 lead.

Messi continued to dominate in the second half, coolly finishing in the 60th minute after a pinpoint pass from Sergio Busquets. He completed his brace with a powerful close-range strike off a Luis Suárez cross.

The emphatic win marks a strong comeback for Inter Miami, with Messi once again at the heart of their success.
